Presenter: Michael DeLeon, Steered Straight, Inc.
Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems, more commonly known as vapes, are not just being used by adults trying to quit smoking. Some people mistakenly believe that was the purpose behind its invention, but that is categorically false. In fact, more than 70% of these devices are purchased by youth 20 years and younger because kids were actually the intention of this product. This session will prove that.
Many of these devices aren't only being used for nicotine. They have become drug delivery systems containing high-potent marijuana THC, heroin, meth, cocaine and even fentanyl. This is something very few people understand, especially kids and parents. In fact, the perception of harm by children is almost non-existent and their health, their future, their very lives are at risk.
It is of critical importance that educators, counselors, and parents know what is happening in this issue. It is vital. Most kids think these devices are harmless. Unfortunately, many parents and guardians are under the same false impression. This workshop will absolutely shock those attending. The most current and relevant information is presented in a way where audience members will be able to not only understand the seriousness of this issue but also be able to articulate it and deliver these fact:s to their youth, their families, and their communities in informative and engaging ways.
This session will clearly show audience members how "marijuana" has been fully legalized in all 50 states and how it is being sold in vape shops, gas stations, souvenir shops, sundries, and online all over America. Delta 8, Delta 10, Delta 11, THC-O, HHC, THC-P, THC-X are all hallucinogenic substances that get the user exceedingly high, and they're being marketed and used by kids in every state. They've been federally legalized under the 2018 Farm Bill, but there is absolutely no regulation of these products in retail or online. Their use is widespread in middle school and high school, even elementary school, and kids themselves have no idea of its danger. Parents, staff, and professionals need solutions and understanding as to how to educate themselves, their families, their communities, and their kids. This session will open your eyes.
Audience members will also have access to an online video curriculum on Vaping for further and continuing education.Petit Bois MSASPA - Straight from the Source!
